The penultimate round of the British GT Championship takes place this weekend (3/4 August), where the 2019 blockbuster campaign continues for Balfe Motorsport at the former British Grand Prix venue, Brands Hatch.
After a brilliant GT4 Pro-Am win on one of the world’s most challenging circuits, Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium last time out, two-time Pro-Am title winner Graham Johnson and McLaren Driver Development Programme member and team-mate Michael O’Brien will once again be looking to pilot their McLaren 570S GT4 to glory.
The pair made up an exceptional 16 places in total to take the Pro-Am win at Spa, this came hot on the heels of finishing fourth overall in GT4 in the previous two-hour contest at Donington. With the focus now moving to the famous Kent circuit they will be hoping the nimble McLaren will suit the undulations of the historic track as they look to overhaul the half point gap to the ProAm class leaders.
Trophy holders Shaun Balfe and Rob Bell will once again be behind the wheel of the McLaren 720S GT3 for the sixth time this season. Despite a slow start to the season th car has proven to be one of the most competitive out on track and with its first race win within touching distance, the duo are chomping at the bit to secure their maiden victory of the year at the 2.4-mile circuit.
Balfe Motorsport will take to the track for the first time on Saturday 3rd August with both free practice sessions ahead of qualifying at 16:30. The lights will go out for the two-hour contest on Sunday 4th August at 13:00 for what should be an action-packed race.
There will be live timing available all weekend on the official British GT website, with live coverage available for the race on SRO’s YouTube channel GTWorld, while the Balfe Motorsport social media channels will keep fans engaged with behind-the-scenes action across the weekend.
