Balfe Motorsport will continue its long-standing relationship with McLaren as it extends its British GT Championship entry to three cars for the spectacular Silverstone 500 and first visit to Donington Park in June – rounds three and four of the campaign – as Mia Flewitt and Stewart Proctor join the championship-winning outfit.
Alongside its full-season McLaren 720S GT3 and 570S GT4 cars – competed by Shaun Balfe and McLaren Automotive Factory Driver Rob Bell, and Graham Johnson and McLaren Young Professional driver Michael O’Brien respectively – Mia and Stewart, competing in association with Flewitt Racing, will also take to the track in a 570S GT4.
Both join the British GT grid after successful campaigns in the McLaren 570S GT4 as part of the inaugural Pure McLaren GT Series in 2018, where Mia claimed the overall title and Stewart finished runner up.
Mia comes into the British GT Championship with an exceptional engineering background, having made her competitive GT debut in the Pure McLaren GT Series where she took the title with a fantastic five victories and five pole positions. She has also raced a 1963 Lotus Elan S1 in historic meetings alongside her husband, Mike.
Joining Mia is another competitor who is no stranger to the McLaren 570S GT4. Stewart was a race winner who finished as runner up in the Pure McLaren GT series and took class victories while finishing runner up in the GT Cup Championship in 2017 while racing with his son Lewis, a McLaren Driver Development Program member. He also successfully campaigned the McLaren 650S Sprint in select GT Cup outings in 2016.
Mia and Stewart’s 570S GT4 will catch the eye of race fans as it will take to track with the Vega Blue base colour of the 2019 McLaren-Renault MCL34 with distinctive Papaya Orange highlights and detailing. The car competes with thanks to support from Prosource, DCT8.com, Doculife, Inception, and Topaz Detailing.
